Vee Shi grew up in China and is now based in Melbourne. His work has been recognised by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards, the Screen Producers Australia Awards and the Iris Prize. He is a recipient of both the Australian Directors’ Guild and Australian Writers’ Guild awards. Time and Tide is his debut feature.

NICHOLSON REN

Producer/ Cinematographer

Nicholson Ren is a Malaysian-Australian Cinematographer and Producer based in Melbourne, Australia. He studied accounting and finance at Melbourne University but began his career in the film industry immediately after graduation.

In 2023 his short film Jia with long time collaborator Vee Shi was nominated for an AACTA Award and has screened in over 30 film festivals internationally while also winning multiple national awards.

He has also been part of the Camera and Video Team on studio-led projects such as La Brea (2021-2022), Ricky Stanicky (2023) and Betterman (2024).

MICHAEL MCMAHON

Executive Producer

Michael McMahon was a founder and the first Executive Chairman of Matchbox Pictures Pty Ltd, and is currently a Director and Executive Producer at Big and Little Films.

His work has premiered at Berlinale and Toronto, won International Emmy Awards, Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards, and Golden Horse Awards, and has received BAFTA nominations along with several national awards.

Michael’s documentary credits include Sadness, Wildness, the Anatomy Series, Murunduk – Songs of Freedom and Next Stop Hollywood. His television drama credits include Call Me Mum, Saved, The Slap and Nowhere Boys and. He executive produced the Netflix series Clickbait. Feature film credits are The Home Song Stories, Cut Snake and Ali’s Wedding.

Michael was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Screen Producers Australia in 2018.
