Vee Shi is an AACTA-nominated filmmaker who grew up in China and is now based in Melbourne. Vee is a recipient of both Australian Directors Guild and Australian Writers' Guild awards. He was selected by Netflix as a director’s attachment for Tony Ayres’ latest Netflix series, The Survivors, in 2024, and Screen Producers Australia Ones To Watch 2023.

Vee’s latest short film, Jia, won the 2024 Screen Producers Australia’s Short Film Production of the Year, as well as Best Direction and Best Actor in an Australian Short Film at Flickerfest 2023. It also received the City of Melbourne Award for Best Australian Short at the 2023 Melbourne Queer Film Festival and was selected for the MIFF Accelerator Lab 2023.

Previously, Vee worked as an Associate Producer under the mentorship of Michael McMahon at Big and Little Films Pty Ltd, supported by VicScreen’s Key Talent in a Company Placement. As of July 2023, he has assumed the role of Development Executive.

Vee's current fascination lies in emotionally rich narratives, particularly within the realms of high-concept, lo-fi sci-fi, and magical realism, exploring themes of love, sex, and identity against the contemporary backdrop of the technological era. He is in post-production for his first feature film, Time and Tide, and is developing a couple of original TV series.
